PRACTICAL, CLEAR AND TRANSPARENT
Best Beginnings Midwifery · Website use, midwifery care, education and the separate MUM membership.
BBM clinical care
Midwifery care and consultations provided by suitably qualified practitioners within their scope. Medicare is available only for eligible items and patients.
MUM membership
An optional, paid community with general education, resources, events and product information. It does not replace individual clinical care.
SECTION 1
These Terms describe the use of the Best Beginnings Midwifery (BBM) website, enquiries, educational information and the arrangements that apply to our services unless a separate written booking or service agreement applies.
BBM clinical services and MUM — Meet Ur Midwife membership are different offerings. MUM membership purchases are governed by the membership information and conditions presented on MUM at the time of joining. Any applicable rights under Australian law remain in force.
SECTION 2
BBM provides personalised midwifery care and education within the scope, registration, experience and authorisations of the practitioner providing the service.
Our endorsed midwife is an appropriately qualified clinician in her own right. Endorsement permits additional practice in relation to scheduled medicines and may support Medicare billing for eligible midwifery services when all requirements are met. Registered midwives also practise as qualified, regulated professionals within their own scope.
BBM works collaboratively with families and, where appropriate, alongside their GP, obstetrician, hospital and usual maternity or primary healthcare team. BBM does not automatically replace those providers or a hospital maternity booking.
SECTION 3
Information on this website, in handouts, classes, webinars, social posts, MUM community discussions and general product or service recommendations is provided for educational purposes. It does not by itself establish a clinical consultation or replace assessment relevant to your circumstances.
Before relying on general information to make decisions about your health, pregnancy or baby, discuss it with a suitably qualified clinician who understands your circumstances. Clinical advice provided directly to you by a BBM practitioner within their authorised scope remains professional clinical advice and does not inherently require approval by another primary care provider.
Birth-preferences plans are developed to support communication and informed choices. Plans may need to change according to clinical circumstances and discussions with your maternity team.
SECTION 4
In an emergency, call 000 or attend an appropriate emergency department immediately. For time-sensitive pregnancy or postnatal concerns, contact your maternity assessment service or other urgent healthcare provider promptly.
Do not use the BBM website, a general enquiry form, email, online classes, MUM community forums or routine appointment bookings to request emergency assessment. These channels are not emergency response services and may not be monitored outside normal service hours.
SECTION 5
Clinical consultations and bookings are subject to practitioner availability, service suitability and any requirements applicable to the appointment type. BBM may recommend in-person assessment, referral or an alternative service when clinically appropriate.
Home visits are offered by arrangement and depend on availability and clinical suitability; no fixed home-visit area is currently advertised. Telehealth may be available Australia-wide where clinically appropriate.
Usual visiting hours are Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. Weekend appointments are by arrangement and subject to availability.
SECTION 6
Eligible antenatal and postnatal consultations with our endorsed midwife may be bulk billed, subject to the current Medicare Benefits Schedule, provider eligibility, patient eligibility and the requirements of the specific service.
When an appointment is bulk billed, the Medicare benefit is accepted as full payment for that service; a separate travel surcharge will not be added to that bulk-billed consultation. Not all education sessions, birth-preferences preparation, group activities, products or MUM services are covered by Medicare.
If any service or third-party activity carries a charge, the applicable price and conditions should be made clear before a booking or purchase is finalised. BBM clinical appointments and MUM membership payments are separate.
SECTION 7
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an appointment. Appointment availability and rescheduling arrangements may depend on the relevant booking provider and the clinical circumstances.
Any applicable cancellation policy or charge must be communicated before booking and will operate subject to Australian Consumer Law and other applicable legislation. These Terms do not impose a cancellation fee by themselves.
SECTION 8
MUM is an optional family membership community for general education, online and face-to-face classes, member resources, events, product demonstrations, information about services and products, community connection and member benefits.
The currently advertised membership is $150 AUD for one family for 12 months, paid once with no automatic renewal, using one nominated family account. Verify the current price, access conditions, benefits and any event charges on the MUM checkout before joining.
MUM membership does not automatically include individual midwifery consultations, healthcare assessments, medical treatment, clinical advice or unrestricted appointment access. Any separate services or fees will be identified before booking or purchase. MUM-specific membership terms and cancellation arrangements apply in addition to relevant consumer rights.
SECTION 9
Information and recommendations concerning products, services, classes, speakers, demonstrations, events or third-party providers are general information and are not guaranteed to be suitable, effective or available for every family. Follow product instructions, age recommendations, recalls and safety advice, and seek tailored professional advice where necessary.
Where a promotion, product recommendation or listing has a financial, affiliate, gifted-product, referral or other commercial relationship, relevant connections should be disclosed clearly at the point of recommendation.
Independent third parties may operate linked booking systems, events, products and services under their own terms, privacy policies, warranties and safety information. Nothing here excludes rights you may have against BBM, MUM or a supplier under applicable law.
SECTION 10
MUM forums and community spaces are for respectful discussion and general support. Do not harass or discriminate against others, promote unsafe practices, share another person’s private information, or use the community for emergency or individualised clinical assessment.
You are responsible for the information you choose to post. Please avoid sharing identifiable health records, medical photographs, identifying details about children or sensitive information in community posts. Parents and carers are responsible for supervising children’s participation.
Community moderation and access rules may be applied to support safety and respectful use, consistently with applicable law and the MUM membership terms.
SECTION 11
BBM handles personal and health information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy obligations. Please refer to our separate Privacy Policy for information about information collection, use, storage, disclosure, access and complaints.
Bookings or enquiries may take place through external services such as Halaxy or Google Forms. Those providers have their own privacy and security arrangements. Avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive health information through general enquiry forms or unsecured community channels.
By submitting contact details, you authorise BBM to respond to that enquiry. Promotional communications and the use of health information for marketing are subject to applicable consent and privacy requirements.
SECTION 12
Website and educational material is provided for information and may be updated as clinical guidance, services or arrangements change. You may use material for your own personal learning; please seek permission before reproducing or republishing BBM-branded materials for commercial purposes.
Links to other sites, payment services, booking platforms, educational material or suppliers are provided for convenience. We do not control third-party websites and their terms and privacy practices may differ.
SECTION 13
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes rights, remedies or consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law.
While BBM aims to provide accurate information and appropriate professional services, no specific medical or parenting outcome can be guaranteed. General educational materials are not a substitute for an individual clinical assessment.
